Once again, I'm combining two of my favorite weekly events.
I can finally start to reveal and revisit some of the homemade gifts we all made this year. This was our most homemade year thus far and with The Kids getting older every year, it seems like we may be able to break our record next year.
I want to show you the I Spy bags we made for both The Littlest Niece and The Littlest Nephew.
The Boy even was super involved in this project, making most of the Littlest Nephew's bag all by himself.
The Boy measured and cut the fabric, then after a quick sewing machine tutorial, he stitched it up. It was a most fun afternoon, working on these with my boy.
The Littlest Niece was quite upset because she wanted to actually play with the toys, not just spy them!
We even sewed a list on the back, so TLN&N would know what they're looking for. Of course, it may take them a few years to learn to read it, but at least their parents will know.
As The Boy and I sat back and enjoyed a hard afternoon of work, I realized that I had sewn the front of The Littlest Niece's back on inside out. The Boy had sewn The Littlest Nephew's bag perfectly however.
I fixed my mistake the next day and we had to wait almost a month to gift these wonderful toys. My favorite part thing is getting to be creative with The Boy and spending an entire afternoon working with him.

This, of course, is a lovely favorite! Your I Spy Bags look fabulous. I've made some, but never take the time to cut out a circle-window. I'm lazy and just make a rectangle. :) Happy FTF! :)

How cool! I have a couple of "Littlest Cousins" that will be needing me to make these for them! So cute! And very impressed that The Boy was so involved in the project!

I am not a crafty person (I think Mrs P adopted me for other reasons) - and I've never heard of those spy bags, but I love them!!
Our children, too, are too the age that we can enjoy doing more with them - isn't it great?
We, too, like Lisa, have smaller cousins that these would be a hit with. I'm either going to have to send my kids with you to make them or my mom :)

What fun! Great that you got your son sewing...I've never gotten any of my kids sewing (but DIL did make a quilt for her nephew!) :)

He actually asked! He's way better at it than I am. I'm much too impatient to get along very well with my sewing machine.

How old are your kids? I've learned to always ask this before I volunteer for anything. I'll just make The Boy help them anyway, so I guess it doesn't matter too much.

I didn't even think of a rectangle! I just followed her instructions and it actually worked out for once.

Lisa, they were very simple, quick, and relatively cheap to make. I found most of the little toys at the dollar section in Target and the packs were plenty to split between the two bags.

I had never seen or heard of I Spy Bags before, what a great idea. How wonderful that The Boy is interested in sewing and really helped out with the bags.

That window is the cutest idea. I;d never seen anything like it either.
The boy should hire out his services - make some cash -and keep the Mom in the style to which she would like to become accustomed!
I love that he was interested in this project!

Neat! My DS just had to come see when I told him he wasn't the only boy one making sewing crafts occasionally. It gave him renewed incentive to finish the baby blanket for his new step-brother who is coming very soon. :)
