The Best Man came over last night to "hang". Wohee, look at us crazy folk! Havin' a party on a school night. I'm not sure how we keep up with it all around here.
The Kids absolutely adore The Best Man. The Best Man does not have children of his own (that we know of, at least, he may have some hidden away somewhere, could that be why he always asks us to lock ours in the closet when he comes over? Kidding people, kidding), therefore he really has no clue how to say no to ours. They look at him with those adoring eyes and he's gone. Lost to The Kids every whim and idea. Thank goodness that as of yet, The Kids haven't realized just how far he would go for them and keep their activities safe and sane. For now.
Last night, The Boy roped The Best Man into a game of darts. Yep, we let our seven year old play with darts. In his room. By himself. Or with The Best Man.
The greatest part of the whole game is that The Boy? He cheats. Obviously and ruthlessly cheats. And because The Best Man is nice and kidless, he LETS him cheat. Unbelievable.
Note how close The Boy is to the dartboard. Then note how far away The Best Man is...
Note the look on both faces when I ask why The Boy is a.) cheating and b.) getting away with it.
Let's observe the "Victory" dance...
Now imagine the "Victory" song, if you will. It goes something like, "It's your Birthday woot! Woot!" repeated endlessly or until I point the camera in another direction.
For The Best Man's sake, I didn't photograph the look on his face when he realized he'd not only lost the game to a seven year old, but that The Boy was going to totally rub it in his face that he'd lost. Because, with all the sports he participates in, apparently, The Boy has yet to learn how to be a good, compassionate winner.
Luckily, The Best Man listened to my advice not to take The Boy's bet on the game. It would have been a very long walk home...
What fun! My brother-in-law is ruthless, he never lets the kids cheat or win! Sounds like the Best Man is a great guy!
