The Boy has fallen in love again.
With reading. We were at Borders recently, and I managed to talk The Boy into trying out a series of Choose Your Own Adventure books. He is currently working his way through Book #1, The Abominable Snowman.
After a little confusion, he finally understood that you read to the end of the page, choose which way you want the story to go and go to the page that it tells you. Even if you skip forward, or head backwards. Just trust in the book.
He was telling me how much he enjoys being able to control the story. He then said, that it felt a little like Scooby-Doo and he's expecting that at the end of the book, some guy, like Old Man Jenkins, will remove the Abominable mask and scream at the characters for ruining his scheme. The Boy said that if that is what happens, then he'll be bummed and might not read the rest of the books. The Boy also commented that at least if that's how it ends, he can always reread it and get to the alternative ending.
Because, really? The books do look exactly alike don't they?
